Though my career in the public school system
is just beginning, I am no stranger to education, and have worked hard to empower students through a variety of means.
The past few years have found me working as an environmental educator in Georgia, facilitating outdoor educational trips
in Montana and Wyoming, leading conservation crews in Vermont and Washington, DC, and serving as an Environmental
Extension Agent with the Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa.
As a member of the T-2000 Millennium Fellowship program at George Washington
University, I am now transitioning into the classroom. I currently teach Biology
and Environmental Science at Montgomery Blair High School in Montgomery County, MD. As I experience the many roles and
responsibilities of a full time teacher, I am constantly striving to incorporate my previous experiences into the current
system. I look to challenge my students with hands on activities that are relevent to their lives, believing that
these opportunities will help students construct an understanding of the world around them.
The following pages attempt to illustrate some of my strengths as a teacher in
regards to the Montgomery County Public School Standards. Each of the six standards are identified and brought
to life via photography, lesson plans, and various other artifacts.
